About the place
The palace was designed by the architects Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab and built in 1911–1913 at the initiative of Mayor György Bernády. The façade has an allegorical mosaic by Aladár Kriesch and bronze and stone reliefs. The building houses the State Philharmonic, the County Library and the Art Museum.
On the first floor, the Hall of Mirrors has two groups of three large mirrors and 12 stained-glass windows with scenes from Székely folklore and ballads such as 'Budai Ilona' and 'Kádár Kata'. The Great Hall, used for concerts, rises through three floors and has an organ with 4,488 pipes. Mayor Bernády's office is kept as a memorial room.
